Trip to Skye
20th May 2015 - 0 comments
I have recently returned from at Trip to the North West Scotland that included spending a bit of time on Skye and at Plockton. This was really a little holiday and included quite a bit of walking and as per usual the odd bit of photography. As is customary with these kinds of trips to the North West of Scotland, the weather varies from one day to the next from extensive rain to lovely sun and I have enlcosed a couple below. I hope to get some of these pictures up in the gallery shortly.

Out like a Lion

FREE postage and packaging has been extended on all orders until the end of May.

The recent beautiful weather in early April in Cumbria has been followed by a bit of a cold "lion" snap which means the tops have had a covering of snow and even down to lower levels. This has meant its time to get the winter gear out again. The sun though is begining to come up real early at the moment so I think it might be a while before I get any more dawn shots like this one taken with views over to the Howgills with The Calf visible on the horizon.

Thank You

I would like to Thank everyone for all the new likes on my SycamoreBarn - Landscape and Dog Photography Facebook page.

Also since my Website www.Sycamorebarn.com went live a few weeks ago I have had lots of hits, some lovely emails and comments and some orders for prints, which is great news. I am currently working on some cards which hopefully will be available shortly. The Free postage remains on the website until the end of the month.

Hoping to get out in the hills over the next few weeks so watch this space for new posts and hopefully some more sunsets.

Morning Swim
02nd April 2015 - 0 comments

A lovely morning in the Eden Valley with a snow capped Cross Fell and swirling mists in the valley. The dogs have spent quite a bit of time in the car the last couple of days on the M6 so we needed a good walk and a swim to shake off some of that excess energy.

This picture was taken at the end of the walk and both had a good swim and they always go and sit on the bridge to await directions back (as we have numerous routes).

I'm now hoping for a couple of hours to catch up on a bit of work whilst the dogs snooze the morning away.
Brotherswater reflections
01st April 2015 - 0 comments

The weather has been fine for a couple of days and with the sunshining this meant a trip out to Ullswater with the dogs for a swim and possibly some photography. There were stunning reflections at Brotherswater and I managed to capture a couple of lovely images.
Eden Valley Sunsets

I have been out quite a bit this week doing some late afternoon walks with a view to getting a good sunset or two. Unfortunately it was not to be. However sat at home onn Friday evening the last bit of day light gave a lovely pink and orange hue to the light and lit up one or two clouds. It would have been rude not to take a picture.
Guardian Travel Competition
27th March 2015 - 0 comments

I recently entered my first photography competition in Guardian Travel for January and won. The theme was "Wild" and given some of the weather we get in the Lake District, I decided on the picture above from a recent trip to Halin Fell. On this day I experienced everything from sun, rain, wind, sleet, snow and even a whiteout. The day was made more special with the superb crepuscular light coming through the clouds in between the numerous showers. When reviewing my images of the day this one stood out amongst all of them and really captured the wildness of the Lake District all in one afternoon of taking pictures.
